What I've been working on
Branding work for a life coach: exploring cost effective ways to brand her website and promotional material to maximise her budget and get the best print quality for her leaflets
Logo and branding design for a talented photographer: this creative client wanted to relaunch the business on a tight budget so I have worked out suitable cost plans
Working on a publishing project for a historical fiction novel to include website, SEO, cover and text design. This is a great example of forward planning as the author has already commissioned her cover with me whilst the manuscript is being peer reviewed. This means the overall design can be created together for a consistent look that reflects the manuscript. One advantage of using a designer is attention to copyright, an understanding of market trends (including ones that have been exhausted such as women with their back to the viewer and ghostly gates) and legible yet beautiful typography. This book has to stand out on a busy Kindle store so it’s important to aim high on cover design and provide an exclusive image.
Researching, writing and applying for funding to publish a book related to a Masters social design project around childlessness in the workplace.
- Advising a company who are new to publishing on best practices for ePub and print books plus troubleshooting files to enable them to send their files to press – they should be proud of their commitment and the content is very interesting.
